Immigration Psychological Evaluations

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Florida & New Jersey, I provide comprehensive psychological evaluations to support immigration cases. These evaluations are designed to meet the guidelines and requirements set forth by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Each report is crafted with cultural sensitivity, clinical accuracy, and compassion for the client’s lived experience.

I specialize in four types of immigration evaluations:

VAWA (Violence Against Women Act)

This evaluation supports individuals (of any gender) who have experienced emotional, physical, or sexual abuse by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse, parent, or adult child. The report details the psychological effects of the abuse and supports a self-petition for legal status.

What it includes:

  • Clinical interview and trauma history
  • Symptoms of PTSD, depression, or anxiety
  • Impact of abuse on functioning
  • Cultural or community barriers to seeking help

I-601A Waivers (Extreme Hardship Waivers)

This is for individuals whose removal or inadmissibility would cause extreme emotional hardship to a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse or parent. The focus is on documenting the depth of this hardship.

What it includes:

  • Assessment of the U.S. citizen/LPR’s emotional, physical, and financial dependence
  • Clinical interview with qualifying relative
  • Impact of separation or relocation
  • Cultural and psychological considerations

U Visa

For individuals who have been victims of certain qualifying crimes (e.g., domestic violence, assault, stalking) and who have cooperated with law enforcement. The evaluation documents the psychological impact of the crime and how it continues to affect the individual’s daily life.

What it includes:

  • Detailed crime narrative and its emotional effects
  • Current emotional/psychological symptoms
  • Assessment of safety, fear, and trauma
  • How the crime impacted family or work life

T Visa

For survivors of human trafficking—whether for labor or sex—who are now seeking protection and legal status. This trauma-focused evaluation captures the severe psychological toll of trafficking and the lasting impact on the person’s well-being.

What it includes:

  • Overview of coercion, abuse, and entrapment
  • Emotional and psychological symptoms (e.g., dissociation, hypervigilance)
  • Cultural stigma and mental health concerns
  • Recommendations for clinical treatment or safety planning
